    All programs and member services delivered by YMCA Buffalo Niagara must be guided by five primary operating principles:
    · To be committed to the purpose and mission of YMCA Buffalo Niagara.
    · To deliver the highest quality member and program services to a growing constituency base.
    · To achieve and maintain a positive financial position through a growing revenue base of contributed and earned revenues and the control of expenses.
    · To recruit and retain high quality, effective volunteer and staff leadership.
    · To enhance and maintain a positive community image of the YMCA and its services.
  • Program Goals
    Health - To improve the emotional and physical well-being of individuals through programs that teach skills and attitudes that enhance life-long fitness.
    Family - To improve the quality of family relationships through programs that support family life and individual growth.
    Leadership and Volunteerism - To develop leadership through programs and experiences that teach the knowledge, attitudes and skills required of leaders; and to provide opportunities for personal enrichment through volunteering service.
    Values - To provide values education components throughout its programs that will help individuals and groups examine and apply their own values in today’s pluralistic society.
    International - To provide programs and experiences that develop a sense of international understanding work for world peace.
    Youth Development - To provide programs and service that promote positive self-image among young people, and increase their access to meaningful social roles.
  • Is a charitable organization
    YMCA Buffalo Niagara is a charitable not-for-profit health and human services organization founded to help people, not make a profit. We earn out tax exempt status every day by making available and accessible much needed services in the community.
  • Serves all incomes, ages and abilities
    YMCA Buffalo Niagara does not turn anyone away due to an inability to pay. Each year thousands of people in Western New York benefit from financial assistance from the YMCA. Annually, more than 15,000 children and families will benefit from the Strong Kids Campaign, providing financial aid for people who wish to participate in YMCA programs such as school age child care and summer camp, or to purchase a membership.
  • Reaches more than 8,500 youth, families and seniors
    People of all ages participate in a variety of activities at YMCA Buffalo Niagara, including swimming lessons, youth sports, vacation camps, Healthy Kids Day, summer camp, fitness, and other special events.
  • Provides child care for nearly 2,000 children at 33 sites
    Nationally, the YMCA is the largest provider of child care in the country. Locally, each branch of YMCA Buffalo Niagara provides school age child care year round, serving nearly 2,000 children at over 35 sites.
  • Relies on volunteers
    YMCAs are volunteer founded, volunteer based and volunteer led. We couldn’t exist without our volunteers. At any given time, YMCA Buffalo Niagara receives assistance and guidance from approximately 150 volunteers.
  • Lives up to its mission every day
    As the second-oldest YMCA in the country, established in 1852, YMCA Buffalo Niagara has a long history of serving all people in Western New York, people of all races, religions, incomes, and abilities. We weave our focus of building strong kids, strong families and strong communities in all our programming.
