Yesterday - In the mid 1800's, George Perkins learned of the mission of the world's first YMCA founded in London, England. His compassion for his fellow man, his commitment to the community in which he lived and his vision for the future became the catalyst which brought the YMCA mission to Western New York in 1852.
With the support of his friends and colleagues, Mr. Perkins created a place where Buffalo's young men could turn to for emotional support, moral guidance, and constructive activities that would help them envision and achieve their full potential in spirit, mind and body.
Today - With the community's support, our YMCA serves over 28,000 children, teens, adults, families, and seniors across Western New York. We proudly provide an environment for people of every age, ability, race, religion, and income level to feel comfortable and welcome as they learn new skills, engage in healthy activities, strengthen family bonds, connect with members of their community, and enjoy life to the fullest.
Preparing for Tomorrow -
The YMCA Buffalo Niagara Endowment Fund
While we cannot predict the future, we do have the ability to positively impact future generations. We can do this by helping to ensure that YMCA mission driven services like those of yesterday and today will be available and accessible for many years to come.
The guiding principle behind the YMCA Endowment Fund is that people can decide today to make a future financial commitment to the YMCA through estate planning. The plans we make today will support future generations of parents and grandparents in their efforts to instill the values, skills and habits that will enable their children, grandchildren and many generations that follow to live healthy, happy and fulfilling lives.
The annual earnings from the Endowment Fund provide financial resources to assist in delivery of program and membership services as well as capital repairs and replacements. Gifts may be used to support a specific branch of service area, to perpetuate an annual gift, to provide program scholarships, or to sponsor specific programs.
Gifts to the YMCA Endowment Fund can be made in a number of ways depending on a person's individual preference and situation. Click on the links below to learn more about a specific giving option.
Consult your own legal and/or financial advisors and then ask your local YMCA representative to assist you in selecting a gift opportunity that best expresses your generosity. |
